How to increase the chances of getting pregnant

  • Lose weight.  It affects your fertility and increases the chances of fragmented DNA.
  • "Refresh" your sperm every 1-2 days.  Means fewer dead / immobile sperm.
  • Don't keep a mobile phone in your pocket.  Can affect sperm count and quality.
  • Don't put a laptop on your lap.  Can cause irreversible damage to your testicles.
  • Avoid long hot baths.  Can cause issues with testicles.
  • Take a general multivitamin supplement.
  • Check you Rubella immunisation status.
  • Avoid ibuprofen. 
  • Avoid opiate painkillers.  Can cause birth defects, ovulatory and menstrual problems.
  • De-stress.  Can affect menstruation and ovulation.  Use relaxation techniques.
  • Take a pre-pregnancy multivitamin supplement.
  • Drink plenty of water and avoid vinegar.  Helps keep body alkaline which is good for sperm.
  • Eat butter not margarine.
  • Avoid caffeine.  Studies show link between caffeine consumption and delay in conceiving.
  • Avoid lube.
  • Avoid alcohol.  Men - can damage genetics of sperm, which take 100 days to form.  Women – damages egg production and damages fertility, especially round time of ovulation.
  • Drink mineral water not tap water.
  • Take regular exercise, but not excessive.
  • Have sufficient sleep.
  • Take holidays / weekends away.  Evidence that good for conception.
  • Eat a healthy diet with five potions of fruit and vegetables a day.
  • Avoid sugars and other simple carbs including white rice and white pasta.
  • Avoid chips and crisps.  They contain acrylimide, which has been shown to reduce fertility in rats.
  • Drink organic milk, not normal.  Has more omega 3 than normal milk.
